Council wants to hear from people who have an interest in access and inclusion within the community. You may be a person living with disability, a family member, friend or carer of a person living with disability, an older resident, a parent that uses a pram or have English as a second language. We want to know about your views and experiences in the shire and any ideas you have to make it easier for residents to better participate in community life. Complete a survey online at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Printed copies, including an easy English version, are available at the Civic Centre at Castlemaine, Castlemaine Library and key locations in towns across the shire. If you would like a copy posted to you, or require help to participate, phone the Community Wellbeing Team on 5471 1700. The survey will close at 5.00pm on Friday 31 August.

Council has updated streetscape designs for five local communities following public workshops in June. Have your say on designs for Chewton, Campbells Creek, Guildford, Newstead and Taradale. Review the draft designs and complete an online survey at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay from Monday 30 July to Sunday 12 August. View designs at various locations in each town. The footbridge over Springwater Creek at Taradale Mineral Springs Reserve is temporarily closed until Sunday 12 August. Council is upgrading the deck with a non-slip surface to improve public safety. We apologise for any inconvenience. For more information contact 5471 1700.

Council will upgrade the standpipe at Maldon to an Avdata electronic key system from Monday 20 to Friday 24 August. The standpipe will be closed during this time and customers can instead collect water from standpipes in Taradale and Newstead. Following the upgrade, users of Maldon standpipe will need an electronic Avdata key. To obtain a key you need to complete an application form, present your water carters and drivers licences and pay a one-off fee of $34 at the Civic Centre in Castlemaine. The key allows access to all standpipes in our shire. From Saturday 25 August operating hours for all standpipes will be 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday.
