Neighbourhood Safer Place in Harcourt

Council and Mount Alexander Municipal Fire Management Planning Committee in partnership with Harcourt Valley Primary School have approved the designation of the basketball stadium at Harcourt Valley Primary School as a Neighbourhood Safer Place – Bushfire Place of Last Resort. Council will undertake works to prepare the site by the end of September. It will formally commence as a bushfire place of last resort on Monday 1 October. More information will be provided regarding the locations, use and limitations of places of last resort in the lead up to the fire season.

Tarrangower Community Forum

Hear from Council’s new Heritage and Urban Design Officer Lisa Merkesteyn at the next Tarrangower Community Forum. Lisa will talk about the upcoming review of the Maldon Design Guidelines and will be available to answer questions relating to the process of the review and the community’s involvement in the project. The forum will be held from 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday 15 August at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre on the corner of Church and Edwards streets, Maldon. Have your say on streetscapes

You now have until Sunday 26 August to have a say on the updated streetscape designs for Chewton, Campbells Creek, Guildford, Newstead and Taradale. Review the draft designs and complete an online survey at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. View designs at various locations in each town. For more information contact the Community Partnerships Team on 5471 1700.

Access and inclusion survey

Council wants to hear from people who have an interest in access and inclusion within the community. You may be a person living with disability, a family member, friend or carer of a person living with disability, an older resident, a parent that uses a pram or have English as a second language. Share your views through an online survey at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Printed copies including an easy English version are available at the Civic Centre at Castlemaine, Castlemaine Library and key locations in towns across the shire. If you would like a copy posted to you, or need help to participate, phone the Community Wellbeing Team on 5471 1700. The survey closes at 5.00pm on Friday 31 August.

Join the Harcourt play space group

Don’t forget to submit your application by 5.00pm on Friday 17 August to be part of the Harcourt Play Space Working Group. The group will help to design a play space for Stanley Park North at Harcourt.
