Maldon standpipe upgrade

Truck collecting water at standpipe

Wednesday 15 August 2018

All three standpipes in Mount Alexander Shire will soon utilise the Avdata electronic key, which provides an accurate record of water collected by users at the shire’s standpipes.

The Maldon standpipe will be closed to users from Monday 20 to Friday 24 August while the system is upgraded.

During this time customers with an Avdata electronic key can collect water from standpipes at Taradale or Newstead.

To obtain an Avdata key simply visit the Civic Centre at Castlemaine, complete an application form, present your water carters and drivers licences and pay a one-off fee of $34.

From Saturday 25 August the Maldon standpipe operating hours will change to 8.00am to 8.00pm on Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday.

The new access hours are consistent with those at the Taradale and Newstead standpipes, and aim to reduce the noise and impact on neighbours from vehicles collecting water.

Newstead and Taradale standpipe users will automatically have access to the Maldon standpipe following the upgrade.

For more information, including the Avdata application form, visit www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/Standpipes or phone Council on 5471 1700.
