Free green waste disposal period

Shire residents can dispose of green waste for free at the Castlemaine and Maldon waste facilities until Sunday 4 November. Residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to prepare their property for the fire season.

Property inspections underway

In partnership with the CFA, Council is carrying out property inspections to assess for fire hazards in the lead up to the Fire Danger Period. The inspections determine whether property owners need to reduce fuel loads to decrease the risk of fire. Hazards are assessed against CFA guidelines. Farms and rural properties near townships are prioritised to reduce the risk of fire spreading to populated areas. Prevention notices, which outline any required works, will be sent in November.
