The pool season kicks off this weekend at our four outdoor pools at Maldon, Newstead, Harcourt and Castlemaine.

Monday 26 November 2018

Outdoor swimming pools in Castlemaine, Newstead, Harcourt and Maldon are set to open this weekend, with patrons welcomed from Saturday 1 December.

Each pool arranges activities throughout the pool season such as family fun sessions, barbecue nights, aqua aerobics, boot camp and learn to swim programs.

“With the weather warming up, local pools are a popular destination. They are a great place to cool off in summer and spend time with friends and family,” said Ben Grounds, Manager Community Places and Spaces, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“We’re looking forward to another safe and fun summer at our four outdoor pools,” said Mr Grounds.

Bendigo Regional YMCA manages and operates pools in Castlemaine, Harcourt, Maldon and Newstead.

Qualified lifeguards work at each pool to provide safe supervision.

“Patrons may see some changes in the kiosk options, with a greater selection of healthier choices,” said Mr Grounds.

“We heard loud and clear from the community that they would like a better range of food options, and we have listened,” he said.

The pool season will continue through until Labour Day, Monday 11 March. Pools will be closed on Christmas Day and on Code Red days.

Mr Grounds said Council is this year giving away a season family pool pass valued at $155.

“All you have to do to go into the draw is sign up to our online newsletter Shire News by Friday 7 December,” he said.
