Changes to Tuesday bin collection over festive period

Bin collection days will change for some residents over the festive season.

Mount Alexander Shire Council and Veolia Environmental advises some residents will have a temporary change to their bin collection over the festive period.

If your rubbish and recycling is usually collected on a Tuesday you’ll need to put your bins out a couple of days early as Christmas and New Years’ Day fall on a Tuesday.

Bins usually collected on a Tuesday will be collected on Sunday 23 and Sunday 30 December instead.

Collection will return to normal from Tuesday 8 January.

Areas affected include Barkers Creek, central Castlemaine and north of Walker Street, Chewton, Elphinstone, Faraday, Golden Point, Harcourt, Harcourt North, Metcalfe and Taradale.

Affected residents may want to consider leaving non-compostable Christmas and New Year’s leftovers (particularly seafood) in the freezer.

Kerbside collectors Veolia Environmental and Council apologise for the inconvenience.

Council offices are closed from 4.00pm on Friday 21 December until 8.30am on Wednesday 2 January. To report a missed bin collection over the festive period please lodge a service request via the council website or phone Veolia on 5456 2500.
