Mount Alexander Shire Council is pleased to introduce Mr Phil Josipovic as its new Director of Infrastructure and Development.

Mr Josipovic is responsible for the delivery of statutory functions across the organisation such as land use planning, development and building controls, environmental health and waste management.

He also oversees the maintenance and improvement of the shire’s infrastructure such as community buildings, roads, bridges, parks and sporting facilities.

Chief Executive Officer Darren Fuzzard said Mr Josipovic is well placed to lead the directorate with a strong background in engineering and local government.

“Phil is a great asset to our team and is well respected in the field,” said Mr Fuzzard.

“He comes to us from the Borough of Queenscliffe where he was General Manager of Planning and Infrastructure for nearly seven years.

“He led many projects from planning scheme reviews and major environmental initiatives to capital works and the development of tourism infrastructure, as well as enforcement and public health programs.

“Phil holds qualifications in engineering and a MBA, and is widely respected for his honest, respectful and supportive approach. He also brings his experience in property management and infrastructure at Brimbank Council, the City of Greater Geelong and Barwon Water,’ said Mr Fuzzard.

Mr Josipovic said he was attracted to his new role because he is passionate about the impact local government has on its community, and the fact that Mount Alexander Shire Council really engages and listens to its community.

“During my short time here I’ve been impressed with the level of commitment to the community. One of my biggest challenges will be to find the right balance to meet community needs in a sustainable manner,” said Mr Josipovic.

“I’ve been made to feel very welcome with excellent support from Councillors and staff alike. This tells me a lot about the organisation and reinforces my decision to join the team. I look forward to making a positive contribution to the Mount Alexander Shire community.”

Mr Josipovic started his new role at the end of October, joining CEO Darren Fuzzard and Director of Corporate and Community Services Lisa Knight on the executive team.
