We are looking forward to our community event on Australia Day where we'll announce the 2019 citizenship awards and introduce our newest Australian citizens.

Wednesday 2 January 2019

Come together with your community at a family-friendly Australia Day event in Castlemaine and enjoy free activities and entertainment including a barbecue lunch, live music, bouncy castle, fruit stall and face painting for kids.

The Mount Alexander Shire Australia Day awards will be announced and everyone will have a chance to welcome our newest Australian citizens at a special citizenship ceremony.

“The Australia Day event is such a warm and welcoming event,” said Bronwen Machin, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“I look forward to introducing our new Australian citizens and recognising our award recipients including citizen and community event of the year,” she said.

Council is again working closely with Upper Loddon Indigenous Group - Nalderun to ensure the event acknowledges the shared history of all Australians.

“We are very proud to be working with the Dja Dja Wurrung community to plan and arrange this event,” said Mayor Machin.

“The event is a very positive opportunity for everyone in the community to come together and recognise all the great work that is happening around our shire,” she said.

“We would love to see everyone join in and come to Victory Park on Australia Day.”
