Recycling collection continues as usual in Mount Alexander Shire

Waste and recycling bins

Our kerbside bin collection in Mount Alexander Shire is continuing as usual, despite an EPA ban on SKM Recycling.

Wednesday 20 February 2019

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s recycling services remain unaffected by a recent Environment Protection Authority (EPA) order to ban SKM Recycling from receiving recyclables at two of its sites.

While many Victorian councils are temporarily affected by the closure, bin collection is continuing as usual in Mount Alexander Shire.

Council has a contract with Veolia Environmental Services for our household waste and recycling services. That means the shire’s recyclables go to Veolia’s materials recovery facility in Echuca which processes paper, cardboard, rigid plastics, metals and glass.

Council urges residents to keep up their efforts to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill, and continue to reduce, reuse and recycle your waste.
