Parents and carers of students in years seven and ten are reminded to complete and return a consent card for the secondary school immunisation program. The blue and white cards are due to be returned to Castlemaine Secondary College by Thursday 7 March. Parental consent is required. Vaccines are administered by an immunisation nurse. Land and fire management agencies are calling on the public to help inform strategic bushfire management planning for Central Victoria as part of the Safer Together initiative. Your input will help inform bushfire management strategies in our region and guide future work such as fuel management, community engagement, and prioritisation of resources. The consultation period ends on Monday 18 March.

Join a guided twilight tour of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens and learn about some of the fascinating history of the heritage listed gardens. The one-hour walk is suitable for all ages and abilities. Meet at 6.00pm on Tuesday 12 March at the Old Tea Rooms at the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, off Downes Street. The tour is part of Castlemaine District Community Health’s monthly walk series. It will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or a Code Red Day. No bookings or RSVP required.

The Mount Alexander Youth Awards are open and we encourage you to nominate a young person who is doing great things in our community. Award categories are the Workplace, Music and the Arts, Sports and Recreation, the Community, the Environment, and Education. Submit your nomination by midnight on Sunday 24 March. Collect a form from the Civic Centre, Castlemaine Library, Maldon Neighbourhood Centre and at the events section of www.mountalexandershireyouth.com.au. Winners will be announced at a free event to be held at Victory Park, Castlemaine on Friday 5 April. The awards are held by Council, supported by the Victorian Government’s Youth Week Grants. Outdoor pools at Castlemaine, Harcourt, Maldon and Newstead will close for the season at 6.00pm on Monday 11 March. Thank you to Bendigo Regional YMCA Youth Services for managing the pools over summer and for all the hard work of the Harcourt Progress Association, Maldon Pool Committee and Newstead and District Swimming Pool Committee Inc. If you would like to provide feedback on the pool season please complete a survey by Sunday 31 March.
