Families and creatives are invited to the launch of the 2019 At Home residency program at the Phee Broadway Theatre in Castlemaine on 18 March.

Be the first to hear the full line-up for the At Home residency program and join an exploration of sound with the creators of Sonic Labyrinth before it hits the Castlemaine State Festival.

Sonic Labyrinth is an immersive and interactive journey designed for young people aged from 9 to 13 years. Each turn uncovers the possibility for new ways of creating unusual experiences with sound and listening devices.

The production was developed by Aviva Endean and Justin Marshall for the Castlemaine State Festival as part of the 2019 At Home residency program.

Aviva and Justin will be at the launch to show their unique instruments so you can experience the work and see how it was developed behind the scenes.

At Home provides industry development opportunities for local creatives through three different types of residencies: Create At Home, Play At Home and Exhibit at Home.

Council will be announcing the creatives who will be granted a three-week residency in the theatre, one residency offering use of the theatre over 12 sessions for a new program, and a number of exhibitions in the foyer.

Another residency is scheduled in partnership with Punctum Inc.’s Seedpod program in April.

“The second year of the At Home program will only reinforce the wealth of talent that exists in our shire,” said Vicki Anderson, Cultural Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“Our partners and community are embracing new ways of thinking about the Phee Broadway Theatre and we can’t wait to share what’s being planned for our new At Home residents.

“Join us to celebrate the ways our community challenges boundaries, stimulates discussion and connects audiences in new and exciting ways.”
