Have your say on the budget

Our Proposed Budget 2019/2020 is now on public exhibition. Community members are encouraged to review the draft budget and make a submission. Copies of the document and a budget summary are available at the Civic Centre in Castlemaine, Castlemaine Library, Visitor Information Centres in Maldon and Castlemaine, Newstead Rural Transaction Centre and at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Submit your feedback by 5.00pm, Wednesday 15 May. Submissions will be heard at a Special Meeting of Council at 5.00pm, Tuesday 21 May. Anzac Day services

Services and marches will be held around the shire on Thursday 25 April to commemorate Anzac Day. These include:
Maldon - from 10.30am - parade along High Street, ceremony at Shire Gardens.
Castlemaine - 5.30am - dawn service at the RSL. Parade starts at 9.00am.
Taradale - 1.30pm - service at the war memorial, Mineral Springs Reserve.
Harcourt - from 3.00pm - service at the war memorial, Stanley Park.
Newstead - 11.00am - service at Newstead Memorial Park.
Chewton - from 8.00am - service at the memorial gate, Chewton Soldiers Memorial Park.
Sutton Grange - 11.00am - ceremony at the Sutton Grange Memorial.

Help to launch Cr PEG Project

Councillor Max Lesser invites the community along to help launch the Councillor PEG Project at 10.00am on Saturday 4 May at the Castlemaine Historic Society, 7 Goldsmith Crescent, Castlemaine. The project includes a series of educational resources to assist explain the role of local government to young people.

Footpath upgrade on Barker Street

Works will being in early May to upgrade a 50 metre stretch of footpath, kerb and channel along Barker Street outside Vinnies. The footpath has been damaged by the roots of two Oriental Plane trees. Both trees will be removed as part of the works. They will be replaced by a similar species and will be planted in a way to promote localised root growth. The works will take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Pet registration reminder

Thank you to all pet owners who have renewed their pet registrations, which were due on Wednesday 10 April. Registrations are now overdue. Reminder notices will be sent out shortly and residents will have until mid-May to register without incurring an infringement.

Change of Council Meeting

Due to the Mayor attending the National General Assembly 2019 – Australian Local Government Association in Canberra from Sunday 16 to Wednesday 19 June, it has been decided to change the date for the Ordinary Meeting of Council from Tuesday 18 June to Wednesday 12 June.

Special Meeting of Council

Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of Council will be held on Tuesday 21 May, starting at 5.00pm in the Council Chambers, Civic Centre, Lyttleton Street, Castlemaine. The purpose of the meeting is to hear public submissions on the Proposed Budget 2019/2020. Everyone is welcome to attend.
