Camp Reserve Masterplan

Council has developed a draft masterplan for Camp Reserve in close consultation with the Committee of Management. The draft plan will be available for community feedback from Monday 17 June at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay, the Civic Centre, Castlemaine Library and Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre. Council will hold a drop-in session to give the community an opportunity to view the plan and speak with staff. The session will be held from 4.00pm to 6.00pm on Wednesday 19 June at the Camp Reserve club rooms. You can provide feedback via an online survey on Council's website, send it to info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au or Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine VIC 3450. Submissions close at 5.00pm on Monday 15 July.

Accessible carpark upgrade

Upgrade works will soon begin on four carparks in Castlemaine to meet Australian accessibility standards. The carparks are located at 23, 64 and 72 Lyttleton Street and 30 Templeton Street. The upgrades will be completed by late July. The carparks will be unavailable during the works. We apologise for any inconvenience. Staff have worked with Mount Alexander Shire Disability Advocacy Group to identify the priority carparks.

Victorian volunteer awards

Nominations for the 2019 Victorian Premier’s Volunteer Champions Awards are now open. The awards recognise, celebrate and thank volunteers for their extraordinary contributions to our community, culture and environment. We know there are many wonderful volunteers in our community. Celebrate Refugee Week

Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR) Castlemaine has organised many local activities to help celebrate Refugee Week, which starts on Sunday 16 June. The week-long celebration includes a community singing session and meal, vigil, concert, multicultural dinner and author events. Find out more at www.ruralaustraliansforrefugees.org.au/Castlemaine. The events are proudly supported by Council, Castlemaine Library, Castlemaine Uniting Church, Anglican Parish of Castlemaine and Vocal Nosh.

Free youth leadership workshop

We are offering free leadership training for young people as part of our Mondo Lounge school holiday program. The full-day workshop is for people aged 12 to 25 and aims to help build expertise in communication, decision making, campaign delivery, public speaking and more. The Leadership 101 Workshop will be held from 10.00am to 3.30pm on Wednesday 10 July. Bookings are essential. Baringhup solar farm hearings

Planning Panels Victoria has announced details on the upcoming public hearings relating to the proposed solar farm in Baringhup. The Directions Hearing will be held at 11.00am on Thursday 13 June at the Civic Centre at Castlemaine. The Panel Hearing will start during the week beginning Monday 15 July. Botanical gardens plan

Have your say on the draft conservation management plan for the much loved Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. View the draft plan at community hubs and at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Submit feedback by Friday 21 June.

Complete the wellbeing census

This is the last week to complete the Healthy Heart of Victoria 2019 Active Living Census. Fill out and return the printed copy sent to each household or save time and complete it online at www.srcentre.com.au/ALC. The results will help us to develop programs and services that help our community be active, healthy and happy. Take part in the census by Thursday 16 June to be in the running for some great prizes.
