Victoria Police and Mount Alexander Shire Council are calling for two community members and two local business owners to join a committee to provide advice on community safety.

The Mount Alexander Shire Safety Committee (MASSC) will help to identify shire-wide issues and opportunities and advise Council on effective policy and service provision regarding community safety.

“We’re looking for committee members who have experience or an interest in community safety, public health, community development, crime prevention, emergency services or simply a strong urge to help our community stay safe,” said Lisa Knight, Director Corporate and Community Support, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“You may work, or have worked in these fields before, or have a particular interest in these areas,” said Ms Knight.

“The perspectives of local residents and businesspeople is important when it comes to community safety so we’re very interested in having representatives on the committee.

The committee will also comprise representatives from Council, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Castlemaine Health, Castlemaine District Community Health and Castlemaine Secondary College.

An appointment to the committee is for two years.

“I urge anyone interested in the committee to please get in touch with any questions to find out if it’s the right fit for you,” said Ms Knight.

“We’d like to see a range of people and perspectives on the committee, so please consider applying for the group and complete an expression of interest.”

The Terms of Reference and Expression of Interest form are available from www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/AdvisoryCommittee.

Submit your application by Friday 26 July. For more information contact Lisa Knight on 5471 1700 or l.knight@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
