Council has launched a new grants program to provide financial and in-kind support for local events.

Wednesday 17 July 2019

Mount Alexander Shire Council is launching a new grants program to support events run in the shire.

The new Events Grants Program will be open at the same time as Council’s existing Community Grants Program and will also include two funding rounds each year.

Venues and Events Coordinator Natalie Parsons said Council recognises the significant costs involved in establishing and running an event, as well as the social and economic benefits.

“We see so many amazing events from fairs and festivals, markets and swap meets to fun runs and fundraisers that bring the community together and visitors to our towns,” said Ms Parsons.

“Council has traditionally supported local events by providing general advice, logistical support, and venue and fee waivers on a case-by-case basis.

“The new Events Grants Program will make it easier for organisers to plan and run their event, and can provide funding to help cover costs associated with producing and promoting an event.

“A formal application process will be a more fair and transparent way for event organisers to seek funding and in-kind support from Council.”

Council allocates grant funds each year to support projects and events run by local community members that align with the goals in the Council Plan 2017-2021 and other strategic directions.

The next round of community and event grants will be open from Monday 22 July to Friday 9 August.

Information sessions will be held to explain the application process of both programs, and community members are strongly encouraged to attend.

Sessions will be held at:
• Friday 19 July, 10.00am – Castlemaine Town Hall
• Monday 22 July, 10.00am – Maldon Community Centre
• Monday 22 July, 6.00pm – Civic Centre

Registration is required. To secure your spot visit http://bit.ly/MtAlexBoxOffice.
