There are no guarantees in business, but often it’s what you do before you get started that will ensure the best chance of success. So if you’re interested in getting your bright idea off the ground then come along to Mount Alexander Shire Council’s next small business workshop.

Starting your business: How to turn an idea into a business is a practical three and a half hour workshop where you’ll be guided through the steps to get your business off to the right start.

At just $30, the low-cost workshop is excellent value and you’ll walk away with vital start-up tips, practical tools and expert advice. The session covers assessing your business readiness, testing your idea, managing business risks and opportunities and writing a business plan.

A small business operator will guide you through the process of getting ready to take your business from idea to reality and onwards to success.

“Research shows that businesses with robust plans are far more likely to succeed than those with a sketchy plan or no plan at all,” said Eva Parkin, Economic Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“This workshop will guide you through all the steps you’ll need to plan to launch your business and get up and running. Our last workshop was a sell-out so I encourage you to get in quick to secure your place,” said Ms Parkin.

Elise Brown from Fair Dinkum Dogs in Castlemaine is one of many local business people who have benefited from attending the recent Small Business Workshop hosted by Council.

“The workshop was a great opportunity to brainstorm the wonderful world of marketing and determine the best way forward for my business,” said Ms Brown.

“I’m looking forward to implementing the ideas now,” she said.
