The Maldon Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will temporarily close while minor refurbishment works are underway.

The VIC will be closed from Monday 19 August and will reopen on Monday 2 September.

Works include replacing the carpet and internal painting to freshen the space for visitors, volunteers and staff.

“We know that the centre is a popular place for tourists to find out all the wonderful things to do in Maldon, and we’re looking forward to reopening with a lovely fresh space,” said Aileen Walsh, Team Leader Visitor Services, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“The VIC is usually open every day except Christmas Day, so the closure will also give our volunteers a well-deserved break,” said Ms Walsh.

To ensure visitors can still access information about things to do while in Maldon, staff are delivering a good supply of brochures to local businesses.

“We’ll also place signs at the centre directing people to local businesses, our tourism website www.maldoncastlemaine.com.au or to call the Castlemaine VIC.

“If you haven’t popped in to the Maldon VIC I recommend you do so once we reopen and have a chat to our very knowledgeable volunteers.

“There’s plenty to see and do around Maldon and they are the experts on finding something new for you to see!” she said.
