Friday 13 September 2019

Over the Moon Yoga and Dance Studios is celebrating its 30 year anniversary with a dynamic photography exhibition that celebrates the evolution of the local dance company.

Since classes first started in the foyer at the Castlemaine Town Hall, the yoga and dance studio now holds a range of classes for toddlers to adults at its home on Templeton Street in Castlemaine.

Over the Moon (OTM) is an important part of Mount Alexander Shire’s creative community. It hold classes in a number of dance styles and provides many mentoring opportunities.

More importantly the community hub has held an important place in the hearts of students over many generations, with a focus on nurturing, wellbeing and the joy of dance.

Over the past 30 years the studio has ignited the creative ambitions for many local amateur and professional dancers, with some going on to pursue further studies and develop successful careers in the performing arts.

Drawing on three decades, the exhibition captures special moments in the evolution of Over the Moon through a photographic narrative of past performances and community events.

Over the Moon Principal Edna Reinhardt said she and the team are delighted to be celebrating the studio’s thirty year journey.

"It is such a privilege for myself and OTM to be so deeply entwined within the Castlemaine community and to have witnessed so many children thrive throughout the years and grow to be confident, young people ready to live with dance as an integral part of their lives,” said Edna.

Congratulations to Edna and the Over the Moon family on this important anniversary.

The exhibition is on display until Sunday 14 October at the historic Market Building on Mostyn Street in Castlemaine. Open daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The exhibition is part of this year’s Phee Broadway Theatre Exhibit At Home program.
