Impounded livestock

Council impounded a ram lamb found in Redesdale on Wednesday 18 September. We intend to rehome the lamb if it is not claimed and expenses paid by Tuesday 1 October. For more information call our Local Laws team on 5471 1700.

Run for local council

Council elections will be held next year and the Victorian Local Government Association is holding free pre-candidate information workshops.

Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter networking session – join Women’s Charter champions, female councillors and prospective candidates in the Loddon Campaspe region. Local Government 101
– Outlines the role of councillors, how to become a candidate and the election process. Held from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday 25 September at the Civic Centre. Light supper provided. Book at bit.ly/loddon-campaspe-LG101.

Small business workshop

Learn how to launch your business online at our next small business workshop. Find out about technology options, how to manage risk and make the most of social media, along with tools and templates for success. The Taking Your Business Online workshop will be held from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Monday 7 October at the Civic Centre. Cost is $20. Book via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/BusinessResources. The workshop is coordinated in partnership with Small Business Victoria.

Tourism networking event

Would you like to tap into tourism opportunities in the shire? Local business operators are invited to a tourism information session and networking event. The session will provide a snapshot of tourism in our shire, an overview of our new look tourism website and how you can get promoted, as well as how to tap into marketing opportunities through our Tourism Memberships program. We’ll also discuss ideas on how we can collaborate and work together to promote our shire as a destination. The session will be held at 6.00pm on Tuesday 1 October at Boomtown Wines, The Mill, Castlemaine. Book your place by 26 September at bit.ly/MtAlexBoxOffice.

Business Awards

Congratulations to more than 150 local businesses nominated in the Mount Alexander Business Awards. The next step is to enter the awards by Monday 7 October. Celebrate Seniors Festival

There are many events and activities planned throughout October as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival. Activities include a dance, morning tea, free community lunch, movie day and choir, craft and word game sessions.

Highlights include:

Festival launch – 10.30am on Saturday 5 October on the steps of the Market Building on Mostyn Street, Castlemaine.
Seniors Expo – Friday 4 to Sunday 6 October at the Market Building.
James Blundell concert – 2.00pm on Friday October 11 at Castlemaine Town Hall. Entry by gold coin donation to SES.
