Ride the Dry Diggings Track

A shuttle bus service is now available to help you ride or walk the Dry Diggings stretch of the Goldfields Track. The service will run between Castlemaine, Daylesford and Vaughan Springs every Saturday until 9 November. Cost from Castlemaine is $20 to Daylesford and $10 to Vaughan Springs. Bookings are essential. Book online via bit.ly/MtAlexBoxOffice or call into the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre (VIC) on Mostyn Street. The VIC is open every day from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The shuttle bus service is a partnership between Council and the Goldfields Track Inc. with support from Tread.

Celebrate Seniors Festival

There are many events planned this month as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival. Activities include a dance, morning tea, free community lunch, movie day and choir, craft and word game sessions.

Highlights include:

Festival launch – 10.30am on Saturday 5 October on the steps of the Market Building on Mostyn Street, Castlemaine.

Seniors Expo – Friday 4 to Sunday 6 October at the Market Building.

James Blundell concert – 2.00pm on Friday October 11 at Castlemaine Town Hall. Entry by gold coin donation to SES.
Ride or walk to the above events for a chance to win some great prizes from Healthy Heart of Victoria. Collect a festival program from key community hubs.

Small business workshop

Learn how to launch your business online at our next small business workshop. Find out about technology options, how to manage risk and make the most of social media. The Taking Your Business Online workshop will be held from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Monday 7 October at the Civic Centre. Cost is $20. Book via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/BusinessResources.

Business Awards

Congratulations to more than 150 local businesses nominated in the Mount Alexander Business Awards. The next step is to enter the awards by Monday 7 October. Complete your entry and see the list of nominees at www.mountalexanderbusinessawards.com.au. Finalists and winners will be honoured at a gala event in December.

Annual Report 2018/2019

In accordance with Section 131 of the Local Government Act 1989, Council has prepared its Annual Report and submitted it to the Minister. Council will consider the Annual Report at the Ordinary Meeting of Council to be held at 6.30pm, Tuesday 15 October at the Civic Centre. Copies of the Annual Report are available to view at the Civic Centre, pop-up Castlemaine Library, Maldon Visitor Information Centre and on the Have your say section of Council’s website.
