Have a say on Morrissey Reserve play space

Play space at Morrissey Reserve in Castlemaine.

Monday 9 December 2019

Mount Alexander Shire Council is planning to improve the play space at Morrissey Reserve in Castlemaine and invites the community to an information session about the replacement play equipment.

The play space is set for upgrade in 2020 and community members and neighbours have the chance to provide feedback at a drop-in session at the play space on Thursday 12 December between 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

“We are proposing a design that will increase the variety of play features and we are keen to hear from users of the play space,” said Cath Olive, Manager Parks and Recreation, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“The equipment is tired and nearing the end of its life. We know that the area is well used and look forward to starting the works early next year,” said Ms Olive.

The play space is located within Morrissey Reserve on View Street in Castlemaine.

The proposed equipment is designed for children aged two to 12 years. It will include a central multi-play unit, slides, climbing structures, a rocker and swing set. A picnic setting will also be added nearby.

“Come along to the drop-in session to hear more about the play space improvements. You can also have a chat with our Active Communities Team and provide your feedback,” said Ms Olive.
