Youth pool party

People aged 12-25 years are invited to celebrate the end of the school year at a pool party and live music event hosted by Council’s FReeZA committee, Eight Metre Speaker. It will be held from 6.00pm to 8.30pm on Saturday 21 December at Castlemaine Swimming Pool on Lake Augusta Lane. Entry is $5. The supervised and accessible event will be alcohol, drug and smoke free, with no pass outs.

Services over Christmas

We will close our offices at 5.00pm on Friday 20 December and reopen at 8.30am on Thursday 2 January for the holiday season. You can still get in touch with us if there is an emergency. For emergencies regarding roads and drains, maternal and child health or stock and animal control (excluding wildlife) call 5471 1700 and follow the prompts.

Christmas bin collection

Due to public holidays residents who normally have their bins collected on a Wednesday will have them collected on Saturday 28 December (instead of Christmas Day) and Saturday 4 January 2020 (instead of New Years Day). Report a missed bin collection via an online service request on our website or call Veolia Environmental on (03) 5820 8500. Please note bin collections begin early mornings on days of Total Fire Ban.

Survey works underway in Maldon

Survey and geotechnical testing works are underway to progress the civil design based on the concepts in the Maldon Streetscape Plan adopted last year. The plan aims to improve character and function of the town centre, with a focus on the central areas of Main and High streets. The detailed design will help inform a business case to seek funding for construction. The streetscape plan is part of the Maldon Town Centre Restoration Project, a partnership between the State Government, Council and the Maldon community. Other project priorities include the provision of underground power and the restoration of shopfronts in the main business and retail area. Powercor is also undertaking detailed design related to the undergrounding of power, and discussions with property owners about the shop front improvement program are ongoing. For more information contact David Leathem, Manager Economy and Culture, on 5471 1729.
