Roadworks along North Harcourt Road will start soon to improve access from Harcourt to Sedgewick and Bendigo.

The works will begin in mid-February and are expected to take around three months to complete, weather permitting.

“The reconstruction project will widen the road and improve safety along this section which is considered a strategic link to south east Bendigo,” said Phil Josipovic, Director Infrastructure and Development, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“North Harcourt Road forms part of the school bus route and is also popular for cycling.”

Drivers are urged to slow down and expect delays during the works. It is recommended that commuters travelling between Harcourt and Bendigo take the Calder Freeway as an alternative route. Access to neighbouring properties will be maintained.

Bitu-Mill Civil Pty Ltd will undertake the works to reconstruct the 1.1 km section of road following a competitive tender process.

The project is jointly funded through Regional Roads Victoria’s Fixing Country Roads Program, the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program and Mount Alexander Shire Council.
