Works to construct a new footpath along Forest, Bowden and Ray streets in Castlemaine will start in mid-February. The new footpath will run from Gingell Street to Gaffney Street. The footpath will link McKenzie Hill with the central business district, Camp Reserve and railway precinct. It will also improve pedestrian safety to Winters Flat Primary School. The works are expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting. Property access will be maintained at all times. Please follow traffic management directions. Minor traffic delays may occur.

Households are encouraged to participate in the 2020 Community Satisfaction Survey to assess the performance of Council. The annual state-wide telephone survey will begin in Mount Alexander Shire in mid-February. It will be carried out by independent market research agency National Field Surveys across a random representative sample of at least 400 residents.

Works along North Harcourt Road will start in mid-February to improve access from Harcourt to Sedgewick and Bendigo. The upgrade is expected to take around three months, weather permitting. The Calder Freeway will be an alternative route for commuters travelling between Harcourt and Bendigo. The project is jointly funded by Regional Roads Victoria’s Fixing Country Roads Program, Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program and Council.

Project Engineer (re-advertised) – full time, fixed term until January 2022.
