Aged Care Reform forums

Council is holding two community forums to hear about and discuss issues related to the provision of aged care services in the shire. The session will include information about the Commonwealth aged care reforms, reasons for the changes and potential implications for Council and other community-based providers. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and share ideas that will help to inform Council’s future services.

Forum one: 3.00pm to 5.00pm on Thursday 19 March.
Forum two: 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Thursday 19 March.

Both sessions will be held at the Civic Centre, Castlemaine. Please RSVP to Customer Service on info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au or 5471 1700.

Planned burns in the shire

The CFA, with support from community groups and Council, will conduct planned burns over the weekend of 13 and 14 March. The activities will take place at Guildford and Newstead to reduce the risk of fire and assist with the regeneration of endangered plant species. As a member of the Municipal Fire Management Planning Committee, Council is working with other stakeholders including emergency services. Thank you to everyone involved.

Join a Maldon heritage walk

Join Council’s Heritage Advisor on a walk through Maldon’s commercial area to learn more about the town's historical features and importance of the Maldon Design Guidelines. The walk will be held from 3.30pm to 4.00pm on Tuesday 10 March. To register your interest email strategicplanning@mountalexander.vic.gov.au or call 5471 1815. You can learn more about the draft guidelines at a drop-in information session from 4.00pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday 18 March at Maldon Community Centre on Francis Street.
