Council has extended the due date for the first rates instalment for 2020/2021 by two weeks.

Tuesday 8 September 2020

Mount Alexander Shire Council has extended the due date for the first rates instalment for 2020/2021 by two weeks.

The first instalment is usually due on 30 September. Council has extended this to 14 October due to unforeseen delays with the production of rates notices.

Rates notices have the correct due date and will soon arrive in mailboxes.

If you are having trouble paying your rates please call Council to discuss your options. You can elect to have smaller, regular direct payments from your bank account to cover rates instalments.

Council’s COVID-19 financial hardship policy is also in place until January 2021. The policy seeks to provide guidance and support to ratepayers, businesses and residents who are experiencing temporary financial hardship due to the impacts of COVID-19.

The policy outlines assistance in relation to property rates, charges and other items such as permits, leases, waste charges and animal registrations.
