The Victorian Government recently announced a coronavirus (COVID-19) roadmap to reopening for Victoria. The roadmap outlines the steps for easing restrictions, subject to public health advice and case numbers, with separate paths for metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria.

Regional Victoria began the Second Step of eased restrictions at 11:59pm on Sunday 13 September 2020. There are still only four reasons to leave home. They are for school or work (if these cannot be done from home), care or caregiving, to purchase essentials and exercise.

Other key points include:
• Up to five people from a maximum of two households can meet outdoors for exercise and social interaction.
• Outdoor pools and playgrounds are able to open.
• People living alone or single parents can nominate one person to visit home in a social bubble.
• Childcare is open to all children and schools will start a staged return to onsite learning from Term 4.
• Restaurants and cafes open for takeaway and delivery only.
• Retail and hairdressing open, with density rules and other restrictions.

While we continue to deliver essential services, our Customer Service Centre is closed to the public. Contact us by phone, email or lodge a customer service request via our website. Playspaces have reopened for use in line with public gathering requirements. Skate and BMX parks remain closed.

Call the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398 and press option 3 to speak with a volunteer from the Australian Red Cross to talk about your needs. They can also put you in touch with a local community connector at Council who can organise extra social, emotional or practical support from local services and organisations.

Any person who may be affected by the granting of the permit may object or make other submissions to the Responsible Authority. An objection or submission can be lodged online via Greenlight or can be sent to the Responsible Authority in writing, addressed to: Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine VIC 3450.

An objection must include the reasons for the objection and state how the objector would be affected. The Responsible Authority must make a copy of every objection available at its office for any person to inspect during office hours free of charge until the end of the period during which an application may be made for review of a decision on the application.

The Responsible Authority will not decide on the application before: 9 October 2020.

If you object the Responsible Authority will tell you its decision.

The 2020 Council elections will be conducted by postal vote in October. If you are interested in running as a candidate you must complete a mandatory training course.
