Mount Alexander Shire Council has partnered with the State Government – Small Business Victoria to deliver two free online workshops this month to skill up and support local small businesses.

“2020 has been a challenging year for many small businesses, so our first workshop in October is designed specifically to provide COVID-19 support for local small businesses throughout the pandemic,” said David Leathem, Manager Economy and Culture, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“If you are having difficulties in making ends meet, or you are unclear about the steps to take in seeking financial support, this is the workshop for you.”

“Topics will include financial hardship, managing business loans and tenancy arrangements, and how to apply for available support,” said Mr Leathem.

We will also be offering a second workshop in October looking at how to getting your business online, which is always important for business, but particularly at this time.

“The session will cover how to operate in the digital landscape, and make the most of online opportunities.”

“I’d encourage businesses to book their spot in one of these workshops – and be quick to avoid disappointment,” said Mr Leathem.

Local business owner Mark Fattore from the Elphinstone Hotel is one of the many local business owners/operators that have benefited from Council’s small business workshops.

“The session I attended on COVID-19 support and opportunities in September was really valuable,” said Mr Fattore.

“It not only provided an excellent platform to learn about business support opportunities during the pandemic, but also a fertile environment to focus on strategy and planning as the economic situation improves. I’d highly recommend it.”

As a response to COVID-19 these workshops will not be delivered face-to-face but rather online through Zoom. Places are limited so book soon.
