Coronavirus update

The Victorian Government recently announced changes to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. While regional Victoria remains in the Third Step some restrictions have now eased, with others coming into effect at 11.59pm on Tuesday 27 October.

• You can have up to two people visit at home each day, plus infants or dependents if they cannot be left unattended or cared for.
• Libraries and toy libraries can open for up to 20 people indoors, subject to density rules.
• Indoor religious gatherings are allowed for up to 20 people plus one faith leader, or up to 50 people outdoors.
• The number of people in restaurants and cafes is up to 70 people outdoors and up to 10 people per indoor space, with a maximum of 40 people per venue indoors. Two and four square metre rules apply.
• Live music is permitted outdoors, subject to venue limits and other requirements.
• Non-contact indoor sport and recreation can occur for those aged 18 years and under. Indoor swimming pools and gyms can reopen for non-contact fitness for all ages. Strict limits apply.
• Up to 20 people can attend a funeral indoors, or up to 50 people outdoors.
• Some licensed tourism services can now operate, primarily outdoors and subject to time limits and passenger caps.
• Property owners are able to apply to their local council for permission to travel for fire or emergency preparedness activities on a property which they own.

Annual roadside slashing underway

Council’s roadside slashing program is underway and is expected to continue until late December. Council slashes vegetation along the road shoulder of all sealed roads and rural intersections managed by Council. The program aims to prevent fires and improve sightlines and safety for road users. The team started at Baringhup, and will progress through Maldon, Newstead, Guildford, Harcourt, Sutton Grange, Metcalfe and Taradale. Please note that some areas may be too wet to slash until late November.
