Business owners in the Mount Alexander Shire are encouraged to register now to attend the last two small business workshops for the year.

The first workshop Marketing Your Business: How to get it right, first time is set for Monday 7 December.

“Effective marketing is crucial for business success,” said Eva Parkin, Economic Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“Whether you’re an established business, just starting out, or looking to adapt your business during coronavirus, this workshop aims to give you all the tools you need to make smart marketing decisions,” said Ms Parkin.

The second workshop and the last for 2020 is COVID-19 support and opportunities: Keeping your small business on track, and takes place on Monday 14 December.

“This workshop has been designed specifically to provide COVID-19 support for local small businesses throughout the pandemic.”

“Topics will include financial hardship, managing business loans and tenancy arrangements, and how to apply for available support,” said Ms Parkin.

Business owners are encouraged to register now to attend one of the following sessions:

Marketing Your Business: How to get it right, first time

Discover how to boost your business marketing skills at this free online workshop.

Participants will be guided through the steps to help your business get noticed and arm local business owners with practical marketing tools, templates and expert tips. Session topics include goal-setting, market research, harnessing social media and more.

A small business expert will guide you through the process of building your own marketing strategy and setting marketing goals that work.

When: Monday 7 December, 9.30am – 11.30am

COVID-19 support and opportunities: Keeping your small business on track

This free online workshop is designed to help your business navigate the current COVID-19 landscape.

Participants will learn what government programs and services could be useful to them, how to manage business loans and tenancy arrangements, employee support and assistance, financial hardship, and explore the potential ways to pivot your business.

The workshop concerns people working in home-based, retail, hospitality and any other affected small businesses.

When: Monday 14 December, Time 6.00pm – 8.00pm
Where: Online via Zoom
Cost: Free

Iris Fischer from Amalin Yoga is one of many local business people who have benefited from Council’s Small Business Workshops.

“I recently attended one of the small business workshops offered by Council and found it really enjoyable,” said Ms Fischer.

“The workshop was catered for small business owners, and was very interactive.

“Thank you so much for making this available for small business owners who are doing it hard during these unusual times,” said Ms Fischer.

Council is delivering the workshops in partnership with State Government – Small Business Victoria to support and encourage local small businesses.

As a response to COVID-19 these workshops will not be delivered face-to-face but rather online through Zoom. Places are limited so book soon.
