Residents in Mount Alexander Shire are invited to a free Community Christmas Lunch and celebration at Castlemaine Town Hall on Friday 25 December.

“A Community Christmas Lunch is held in our shire each year to bring some joy and connect people in our community,” said Martyn Shaddick, Manager, Castlemaine Community House.

“Everyone is invited to come and share a delicious meal with some good company on Christmas Day. It’s a chance to get together over a nice lunch, and enjoy some great hospitality and festivities in a friendly atmosphere,” he said.

“Come alone or bring your family and friends. We encourage you to book your place now and be part of this special day.

“We know that 2020 has also brought a lot of change and new challenges for many people so we expect to see some new faces this year,” said Mr Shaddick.

The Christmas lunch in Castlemaine is usually organised by St Vincent de Paul Society members and volunteers each year.

This year Castlemaine Community House is picking up the great work and tradition from Vinnies Castlemaine.

It is working in partnership with a range of community groups and organisations to host the non-religious event.

Lunch will include a delicious main meal and dessert. There will also be music and activities to keep everyone entertained.

The alcohol-free event will be held from 12.30pm to 2.00pm on Friday 25 December at the Castlemaine Town Hall on Lyttleton Street.

For more information and bookings call Castlemaine Community House on 5472 4842 or email reception@cch.org.au.

The community lunch would not be possible without the generous support from local businesses, growers and volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer your time to help out or make a food or financial donation contact Castlemaine Community House on 5472 4842.

If you are doing it tough this Christmas and need help to celebrate with your loved ones you can also reach out to the Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul.

The Salvos and Vinnies may be able to assist with food hampers, presents for the kids or provide other assistance if you are facing financial difficulty.

If you need help contact the Salvation Army Castlemaine Corps on 5470 5389 or St. Vincent de Paul on 5472 4419.

Christmas can be a difficult time for some so if you need any additional support or need to talk to someone, contact CHIRP Community Health on 5479 1000.
