If you have a brilliant idea for an event, a community project or creative endeavour make sure you apply for the next round of grants from Mount Alexander Shire Council.

Council’s Community Grants, Get Lost Activation Grants and Events Grants will open in January and February, with plenty of opportunities for financial and in-kind support to get your project off the ground.

“Our grants programs are an important way for Council to partner with local groups and individuals to support exciting and important projects that inspire, entertain or make a difference within our community,” said Lisa Knight, Director Corporate and Community Services.

“These grants help to bring colour and energy to our shire, which is something we are welcoming with open arms in 2021,” said Ms Knight.

The three types of grants cover community projects, creative endeavours and events.

Council’s Community Grants provide support to new and emerging local community development projects and initiatives that align with Council’s strategic objectives. Two funding streams are open, small grants up to $3,000 and partnership grants up to $10,000.

“We would particularly love to see project ideas and initiatives that respond to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and address any new needs that have emerged as a result,” said Ms Knight.

“Our Get Lost Activation Grants target our cultural and creative industries, who have been among the hardest hit by the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions.

“Grants of up to $3,000 and $5,000 will be provided to small, independent creative operators for initiatives that align with our strategic directions, including those which underpin our creative and innovative economy,” she said.

Events Grants offer support for established and new events.

“These grants provide financial and in kind support for not-for-profit and commercial event organisers to help events go ahead,” said Ms Knight.

“With so many events cancelled in 2020, we can’t wait to see what our community has in store for the year ahead,” she said.

Community Grants and Get Lost Activation Grants will open on Monday 25 January and close Monday 15 February.

Events Grants open on Monday 15 February and will close on Monday 8 March.

Council will hold two information sessions where you can come along and learn more about the three grants streams. COVIDSafe requirements such as social distancing and on-site attendance registration will be in place.
