Proposed Budget 2021/2022

Mount Alexander Shire Council has prepared a Proposed Budget for 2021/2022. At the Council Meeting on Tuesday 20 April, Council resolved to exhibit the proposed budget for public comment. Community members are encouraged to review the draft and make a submission.

Copies of the document and a budget summary are available for public inspection during office hours at the Civic Centre in Castlemaine, or via Council’s website at mountalexander.vic.gov.au/Budget. A copy is also available at the Castlemaine Library.

Submissions must be in writing, and be lodged by 5.00pm on Wednesday 19 May 2021.

Please send your submission titled 2021/2022 Budget to the Chief Executive Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine, VIC 3450 or email to info@mountalexander.gov.au

All submissions will be considered in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020. They should indicate whether the person, or a person acting on their behalf, wishes to be heard before Council. Submissions will be heard at a Special Meeting of Council at 5.30pm on Tuesday 25 May. Council will consider the 2021/2022 Budget at an Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday 15 June, starting at 6.30pm. Both meetings are open to the public.

Golden Point Road speed limit

The seasonal speed limit currently in place along a one kilometre section of Golden Point Road near Expedition Pass Reservoir ends this Friday 30 April. The speed limit will revert back to 80km/hr.

The speed limit reduction was implemented from December to April to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists throughout the warmer months. Thank you for your cooperation during this period.

Don’t forget to share your vision

Just a reminder to share your vision for the future of the Mount Alexander Shire with us by Saturday 15 May.

We’re asking residents to think about the big and small things they love about Mount Alexander Shire, and the things they’d like to see change.

Visit shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/vision to share your feedback, or call 5471 1700 and ask for a hardcopy survey to be mailed out.

Feedback provided as part of this project will inform the development of a number of long-term Council strategies and priorities, including the Council Plan 2021-2025 and annual budget.

The next Council meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 18 May.
