COVID-19 update

Council’s Customer Service Centre and Visitor Information Centre in Castlemaine have reopened, following the easing of recent COVID-19 restrictions for Regional Victoria. To stay up-to-date with changes to Council services and facilities as restrictions change visit www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

If you are not feeling well and show any symptoms of COVID-19, please get tested and stay home. Visit CHIRP Community Health’s website at www.chirp.org.au for operating hours at the drive-through COVID-19 screening clinic in Castlemaine.

Castlemaine Health is currently operating a local COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Bookings are preferred, with walk-in vaccinations until 12noon, dependent on vaccine availability. Visit www.castlemainehealth.org.au to register and for more information including clinic times.

Come and reconnect

Are you feeling like you need to connect with people again after another COVID-19 lockdown? Council is running drop-in sessions at community halls in the shire in June for residents who would like to connect with other people and learn more about local activities and services.

Review of Mayor and Councillor allowances

Mount Alexander Shire Council gives notice, under Section 74(1) of the Local Government Act 1989, of its intention to fix the Mayor and Councillors’ allowances at the upper limit of the allowable range for Category 1 councils as follows:

- Councillor allowance: $21,049
- Mayor allowance: $62,884.

Under Section 74(4) in respect of a review of allowances, any person may make a written submission to Council under Section 223 of the Act.

Submissions will be received until 5.00pm on Friday 9 July 2021, and can addressed to Principal Governance Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine Vic 3450 or emailed to governance@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
