Immunisation

Immunisation not only protects individuals, but also others in the community by increasing the level of immunity and minimising the spread of infection.

Immunisation has been repeatedly demonstrated to be one of the most effective medical interventions to prevent disease.

For information about immunisations for babies and children aged between 0 and 6 years, please visit our Maternal and Child Health page or contact 5471 1822.

School immunisation program

We visit all schools in the shire that have secondary school classes and offer vaccinations. We do this as a part of the National Immunisation Program.

Experienced healthcare workers deliver all vaccines in a safe, professional environment.

We offer the following immunisations to secondary school students:

Parents or guardians must sign a consent card before any vaccine can be given.

Consent cards will be distributed through the schools during term one.

Cards can be returned on student/parent mentor interview day.

On the day of vaccination, students will bring home a form stating which vaccines they received. This form should be kept with previous immunisation records.

What if your child misses the school immunisation session?

If your child was absent on the day of vaccinations please contact a Public and Environmental Health Officer for advice on 5471 1700.

Requesting immunisation records

We can provide immunisation records for people immunised through a Council service. The fee for this record is $32.

To request a record please download and submit the Application for immunisation record form(DOCX, 274KB).

We cannot provide records of immunisations given by doctors or other providers.

Once your child turns 14, you’ll no longer be able to access their immunisation history statement. They’ll be able to view it using their Medicare online account through MyGov. They can also use the Express Plus Medicare mobile app

You can learn more about this on the MyGov website.

You can also access your immunisation record via the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) on 1800 653 809.
Please note there is a wait of up to 28 days to receive these records.
