Maternal and child health

We provide a support service to families with children aged 0-6 years.

This is free and available to all families. 

To request a service, please call 5471 1822 and leave a message.

Our services include:

  • Assessment of your child's growth and development
  • Referrals to other health agencies - if necessary
  • Health and early parenting information
  • Linkages to community resources to meet your family's needs
  • If this is your first baby, we will invite you to a first-time parent group
  • Our Enhanced Home Visiting Service provides support for families with extra needs
  • Sleep and settling support through group sessions and one on one support
  • Immunisations for ages 0 - 5 years
  • Parents' group meetings for first-time parents. 

Childhood immunisations

We provide immunisations to children based on the National Immunisation Program. Local GPs also offer immunisation services. 

The Maternal and Child Health Service offers immunisations to children aged 0-5 by appointment. 

Immunisation records are available by accessing through your MyGov account.

Breastfeeding support

You can find Lactation Consultants at Castlemaine Health and Bendigo Health.

Mount Alexander Shire has an Australian Breastfeeding Association group which runs regular activities. They can also hire breast pumps to you.

Monday to Friday 9.00am- 4.30pm except Public Holidays.

The centre has a baby care room, toilet, kitchen and comfortable lounge available during opening hours.
