Council is committed to addressing the housing affordability challenge in our community.  We are also seeking to match housing to our household types and climate.

Actions we're taking include:

  • Using Council land to deliver affordable housing
  • Negotiating use of State land for affordable housing
  • Connecting private landholders with affordable housing developers
  • Advocating for the housing needs of the shire

These actions connect to the key pillars in our Council Plan 2021-2025(PDF, 4MB). Some actions are large-scale, longer-term activities that will take time to come to fruition.
