The Maldon Transfer Station will be closed from Wednesday 21 October to Sunday 25 October. It will re-open on Wednesday 28 October. The Castlemaine Transfer Station will operate as normal.
Mount Alexander Shire Council does not provide a hard rubbish collection.
In 2023 Council investigated offering this service and determined it was not viable due to the high costs for households and large geographic distances required for collection.
Furthermore, a typical hard rubbish collection system does not result in good recycling outcomes. Only a small proportion of the material left out for collection gets recycled.
Large unwanted items can be taken to the Castlemaine or Maldon Transfer Stations. Please visit our fees page to find out about disposal costs.
