Outdoor trading

Outdoor trading refers to trading on areas that form part of footpaths, laneways, road reserves and roads for activities such as:

  • Outdoor dining
  • Selling products
  • Displaying signage

You will need an outdoor trading permit to place items on the footpath outside your business. Examples of the items allowed are:

  • Tables, chairs, bench seats and umbrellas
  • Advertising signs
  • Display of goods
  • Planter boxes, screens/barriers or promotional

Parklets

Parklets allow the temporary use of on-street car parking spaces for outdoor dining and general trader use.

To apply for a parklet permit follow the steps below, but use the Parklet application form(PDF, 92KB) instead of the Outdoor trading permit application form.

When we have received your application, we will contact you to advise how to pay.

Fees

  • A-frame sign - $68.30 per sign
  • Footpath - Goods - $68.30 per year
  • Tables - $3.10 per table
  • Other Street Furniture - Umbrellas or pots/plants - $29.00 per application 
  • Outdoor eating - $6.20 per seat (non licensed)
  • Outdoor eating - $22.80 per seat (licensed)
  • Real estate agent directional sign - $232.90 per franchise/per annum

Annual parklet fees:

  • $535.00 for one car space;

  • $375.00 for each additional car space
