Outdoor trading

Outdoor trading refers to trading on areas that form part of footpaths, laneways, road reserves and roads for activities such as:

  • Outdoor dining
  • Selling products
  • Displaying signage

You will need an outdoor trading permit to place items on the footpath outside your business. Examples of the items allowed are:

  • Tables, chairs, bench seats and umbrellas
  • Advertising signs
  • Display of goods
  • Planter boxes, screens/barriers or promotional

Parklets

Parklets allow the temporary use of on-street car parking spaces for outdoor dining and general trader use.

To apply for a parklet permit follow the steps below, but use the Parklet application form(PDF, 92KB) instead of the Outdoor trading permit application form.

Fill out the application form and email it to info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.

Step 3.What happens next?

When we have received your application, we will contact you to advise how to pay.

We will then be in touch to notify you of the outcome of your application.
