Filming and photography

Mount Alexander Shire offers a rich array of historic streetscapes and natural landscapes that offer an attractive and unique array of filming and photography opportunities.

Do I need a permit?

You need to apply for a permit to film if you wish to use Mount Alexander Shire’s roadways, parks and gardens, bushland, sporting grounds, footpaths and laneways for your film or photography shoot.

Type of projects that require a permit are still photography, television, feature films, advertising and television commercials, documentaries and music videos.

Allow 10 working days for your permit to be processed.

Please have the following documents ready before applying:

  • Map of proposed parking for crew vehicles
  • Copy of Public Liability Insurance policy. Filming – minimum $10 mill. Photography stills – minimum $5 mill.
  • Production Safety Report
