Lot 19 Creations, a Maldon Heritage Network event and the Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show are some of the local events funded through the latest round of Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Event Grants program.

Council has awarded grants to 18 community groups who will share in $40,000 to deliver events that foster connection and community across the shire.

One of the events that this round of funding will support is Run the Maine. They’ll be hosting their annual community running event that donates proceeds to a local cause.

Another event to receive funding is the Victorian Miniature Railway’s Harcourt Precinct, who will be hosting the grant opening of Harcourt’s very own miniature railway.

Some of the other events include The Castlemaine Show, the Maldon Folk Festival and music at the Wesley Hill Market.

“We are always incredible grateful for the backing we receive from Council to help us stage Run The Maine,” said Gavin Krasner, Run the Maine’s Race Director.

"Our well-loved community fun run brings participants to our region from all over Victoria and further afield.

“Health and wellbeing are at the core of what we do and Mount Alexander Shire Council has recognised this from the outset, awarding the event a grant since its inception 16 years ago.

“An amazing commitment for the local community.”

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Mayor, Cr Matthew Driscoll, is proud to be able to support local events with Council’s Event Grants program.

“We’re lucky to have a fantastic range of events all year round in our shire, and no wonder with all our creative and dedicated community members.

“Our grants program supports local, community-focused events. It gives them a boost, and makes sure our community feels supported with music, sport, art and lots more.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what events take place over the next 12 months and see how they make our shire come to life.”
