The role and what it offers

As part of the Works unit, the Team Leader – Rural Maintenance is primarily responsible for organising and carrying out Drainage and Infrastructure works in rural areas and small townships within the municipality. Leading a small team, this role reports to the Works Supervisor – Maintenance as well as working with the wider Works Department as required.

Using our modern and well-maintained fleet of plant and equipment, this role plays an integral part in the programmed and reactive maintenance of rural roadside slashing and vegetation management. This role will also be responsible for infrastructure maintenance in small townships, which includes drainage, footpaths, roads and any other Council related road infrastructure. The role is a ‘hands on’ position working with and leading your team.

An attractive salary between $68,112 - $71,617 pa depending on experience, working a 9-day fortnight. With the choice of doing available overtime earning attractive penalty rates, and the choice of doing standby / after-hours works on call offering generous allowances and applicable penalty rates. The extras are at your discretion!

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will have relevant experience and qualifications which include:

  • Experience in leading teams in civil infrastructure maintenance or installation
  • Experience in rural grass slashing, spraying and vegetation control
  • Competent in the use of various types of plant and machinery, including accreditation in front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators and other relevant equipment
  • Experience in the basic maintenance and minor repair of relevant plant and equipment
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence with Heavy Truck (HR) endorsement
  • Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety processes and procedures
