Mount Alexander Shire Council is in the process of transforming the old tennis court in Taradale adjacent to the Taradale Mineral Springs into an interactive Youth Space

The youth space will provide a great recreation space for all ages and abilities and will be an attractive new addition to the area.

The project will provide:

  • centrally located inclusive and accessible multi-purpose youth space
  • much needed outdoor hard surfaces for informal recreation such as basketball, soccer and a hit up wall
  • mini pump track for cycling, scooting and skating, grassed and treed areas, picnic tables and bench seats.

Overall the project will create a desirable destination for physical and social activity for local and visiting youth.

The project has also refurbished the old tennis shed, and will provide a wombat pedestrian crossing to link the youth space to the beautiful Taradale Mineral Springs enhancing safe access to the space.

The project was a community initiative and will provide a much needed recreation space for older children in the area.

Project status

The project began in March 2023 with the refurbishment of the old tennis shed. Council has awarded the contract for civil works which will commence in November 2023.

The pump track and other equipment is scheduled to be delivered in January 2024. The project is on track to complete by the end of April 2024.

The Taradale Youth Space project is being developed by Mount Alexander Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.
