Applications opening for Local Impact Business Grants

Mount Alexander Shire Council is launching a new Local Impact Business Grants program to fund innovative initiatives across the shire.
Starting Monday 15 December 2025, local businesses, business groups, farmer networks and community organisations can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to bring practical, high-impact projects to life.
This one-year pilot program will fund projects that help:
- Build local skills and knowledge
- Strengthen community wellbeing
- Boost sustainability
- Grow a fairer, more vibrant local economy
Mount Alexander Shire’s Mayor, Cr Toby Heydon, said the program is all about supporting ideas that benefit people, place and the environment:
“We want to help businesses and community groups learn from each other, build capability and create a stronger, fairer and more sustainable local economy.”
Applications open on 15 December 2025 and close on 11 January 2026, with projects to be delivered between February and June 2026.
Applications will be submitted online through Council’s SmartyGrants platform. The link will be available on our website when applications open.
Who can apply
The new program is open to:
- Local businesses with projects that deliver a clear community or business-sector benefit
- Business and farmer associations, networks and cooperatives
- Community-run or community-auspiced groups
