Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting residents to attend a Community Information Session to hear the latest updates on the Castlemaine and Campbells Creek Levees Project.

Since 2021, Council has been investigating options to improve local flood protection, including the design and construction of levee banks in Castlemaine and Campbells Creek. Throughout 2025, Council sought community feedback at several consultation sessions held in March, April and June.

The upcoming session will provide an update on this important work and outline the next steps for the project.

When: Monday 23 March, 5.30pm to 7.00pm
Where: Club room, Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve, 37 Campbells Creek-Fryers Rd. Campbells Creek

Council officers, Councillors, and representatives from the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) will be available to share information and respond to community questions.

The session will include:

  • An update on the Castlemaine and Campbells Creek Levees Project
  • An overview of the future stages of the project
  • Opportunities for community questions

Mount Alexander Shire Mayor Toby Heydon encouraged residents to attend and stay informed.

“Mitigating the effects of extreme weather remains a priority for our shire, and this project is an important step toward building greater resilience,” Cr Heydon said.

“We want residents to have clear, accessible information about the work underway. Your questions and input are vital as we move ahead with this project.”

To help facilitate the session, community members are encouraged to submit questions in advance. Questions can be emailed to info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au, addressed to Gino Iuliano. Alternatively, please call 5471 1700 to lodge a customer service request with your question.

Council looks forward to continuing to work with the community to progress this significant piece of local flood‑mitigation infrastructure.
