What support do families need most? And what could make life even better for local children?

Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting parents, carers and children to share their ideas as work begins on new plans for children aged 0-12 years.

Community feedback will help shape Council's Early Years Plan 2027-31 and Middle Years Plan 2027-2031, which will guide future programs, services and activities for local children and families.

Mayor Toby Heydon said hearing directly from families was an important part of the process.

"Nobody knows what children and families need better than the people living it every day," Cr Heydon said.

"We want to hear what's working well, what's missing, and what would help make Mount Alexander Shire an even better place for children to learn, play, connect and thrive.

"Whether you're raising a baby, have children at primary school, or anything in between, we'd love to hear from you."

As part of the consultation, Council staff will be visiting schools and kindergartens across the shire during November to hear directly from children about their ideas, experiences and hopes for the future.

Families, service providers and children aged 8-12 can have their say by:

Additional pop-up sessions will be advertised on Council's Facebook page and the Shape Mount Alexander website.

A parent forum will also be held in February 2027 to explore ideas and priorities in more detail.

The survey is now open and closes on Friday 18 December.
