Have your say on the future use of industrial land in our shire
Published on 01 September 2025
Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting community feedback on the draft Industrial Strategy and Industrial Design Guidelines.
The strategy will guide the development of our shire’s industrial land sector, supporting the economic wellbeing, creativity and sustainability of the community.
The guidelines will provide a framework to manage and evaluate applications for subdivisions and development. It will ensure that environmental, amenity and aesthetic matters are addressed and integrated.
Council’s Coordinator Strategic Planning, Nathan Lord, said that consultation with the community and local businesses is important to developing the strategy and guidelines.
“Our industrial lands are essential to our manufacturing, fabrication, food and service economy, and local and regional employment.
“They also help us support a more sustainable future that embraces new energy, a circular economy and construction innovation.
“Last November we asked our community how we can support new and established businesses in the sector to grow and innovate,” said Mr Lord.
“The feedback we received was used to inform our draft strategy and guidelines.
“These two documents are integral to the future of our industrial sector.
“They’re also part of our commitment to a wellbeing economy – we want local businesses to have access to everything they need to flourish in our shire, including enough room for them to operate and grow.
“I encourage you to read through both documents and provide feedback which will help us plan for the sustainable growth of industries in our shire.”
