Resilient Lismore

Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting community members to come along to the Resilient Lismore Flood Recovery and Resilience Roadshow.

The free roadshow sessions are an opportunity to hear from Resilient Lismore, who will be speaking about their world leading recovery model, sharing their learnings and expertise.

The sessions will take place in Newstead, Campbells Creek and Castlemaine, and are open to all community members.

A separate session for government and emergency service workers only will also be held in Castlemaine.

“Council has been working with flood-affected communities following the 2022 floods,” said Alison Woollard, Council’s Community Flood Resilience Recovery Coordinator.

“We’re committed to helping our communities support each other to repair, rebuild and prepare for the future.

“These sessions are an opportunity for residents to learn more about the flood recovery and resilience work being done in Lismore.

“They can ask questions, take notes, brainstorm and connect with other residents in their community.”

Speakers include:

  • Elly Bird, Executive Director of Resilient Lismore
  • Georgina Bruinisma, Senior Manager Aboriginal Leadership & Engagement at Social Futures
  • Anne Leadbeater OAM, disaster recovery and community resilience expert
  • Luke Ryan, Council’s Emergency Management Coordinator during the 2022 floods
  • Jeanette Pope, local facilitator – launch of Community Emergency Hubs in Newstead, Campbells Creek and Castlemaine

Emceed by Australian television presenter, sports journalist and Beyond Blue ambassador, Brad McEwan.

“We’re lucky to have a group of experienced and informed speakers attend our roadshow,” said Ms Woollard.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to hear from professionals in the field and stick around afterwards for a chat over coffee.”
