Mount Alexander Shire’s micro and small business owners are invited to gain expert legal and financial advice at one of the most valuable sessions of this year’s Micro and Small Business Day – Money Matters.

Taking place on Friday 27 June from 1.15pm to 2.15pm at the Castlemaine Senior Citizens Centre, the workshop will offer practical guidance on protecting and strengthening the foundations of your business.

The session will be headlined by Lynda McAlary-Smith, Victorian Small Business Commissioner, who brings rare insight into the state of small business across local, state and national landscapes.

With a frontline role in advocacy and dispute resolution, Lynda will share emerging trends, common challenges, and strategies for business owners to safeguard their interests and plan with confidence.

Joining her on the panel:

  • John Wellington, Robertson Hyetts – legal insights into leases, risk management, and business structures.
  • Luke Millard, NAB Business Banking – expert advice on financial planning, lending and SME banking solutions.
  • Jacqueline Brodie-Hanns, co-owner and General Manager of Shedshaker Brewing and The Taproom in Castlemaine and chair of Business Mount Alexander

Attendees will leave with:

  • Practical tools for risk management and business protection.
  • Advice on navigating disputes without escalating to legal action.
  • A clearer understanding of key financial and legal essentials including insurance, tax and leasing.
  • Direct access to experts who support small business every day.

This is a must-attend session for any small business owner, sole trader or aspiring entrepreneur looking to secure the future of their enterprise.
