Nominations open for the 2027 Australia Day Awards
Published on 20 October 2026
Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting residents to nominate an outstanding community member for the 2027 Australia Day Awards.
The awards acknowledge individuals who have made a difference to the people around them by contributing their time and skills towards their community.
“There are so many incredible people across our shire who give their time, skills and energy to make our community stronger,” said Mayor Toby Heydon.
“The Australia Day Awards are our chance to recognise those people and celebrate the difference they make.
“Whether it’s through years of service, by supporting others or simply by stepping up when their community needs them.
“It’s also an opportunity to recognise the local events that bring us together and foster a sense of connection and belonging.
“If someone comes to mind as you read this, or there’s an event you loved this year, I encourage you to nominate them and help us celebrate their contribution.”
